Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

The Greenville Journal Gazette was a 20th century newspaper published in Greenville, South Carolina in an alternate timeline created when Doctor Leonard McCoy saved the life of Edith Keeler.

History and specifics[]

On 8 September 1955, the front page of the Greenville Journal Gazette reported the death of Dr. McCoy the previous day. The longtime resident of Hayden, South Carolina had been treating an injured German Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter pilot, one of seven who had been forced to land and been captured.

The article was recorded by Commander Spock's tricorder when he scanned the Guardian of Forever in 2267. A copy of the tricorder scans had been saved in the Memory Apsû security depot on Alpha V colony. The prime reality McCoy visited the depot in 2293 and read the Greenville Journal Gazette article describing his counterpart's death. (TOS - Crucible novel: Provenance of Shadows)
