Biography[]
In 2263, Groffus served under under Captain James T. Kirk aboard the USS Endeavour. Dr. Leonard McCoy served under Groffus, as he had chosen to accept a lower rank in order to remain with his former captain onboard the Endeavour. However, McCoy plainly disliked having to answer to Groffus, who met McCoy's mild insubordination with blunt authority. (TOS - Boldly Go comic: "Issue 1")
Groffus helped tend to the injured members of the USS Concord after their ship had been destroyed by the Borg. (TOS - Boldly Go comic: "Issue 3")
Chief Groffus and McCoy then met the reclaimed captives of the Borg (whom the Borg had temporarily started assimilating) once they had been beamed aboard the Endeavour, including Spock. (TOS - Boldly Go comic: "Issue 4")
