Gruyakin was a type K6 orange star with an associated system located not far from Beta Lyrae, Starbase 25 and the Kzin Patriarchy at the edge of Federation space in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.
History and specifics[]
Two of the twelve planets in orbit of Gruyakin were marginally habitable.
One billion years ago, Gruyakin was within the sphere of influence of the Slaver Empire. At this time, a Slaver stasis box containing artifacts believed owned by an espionage agent was left on sixth planet Gruyakin VI.
Prior to Kzinti conflicts with Earth in the 21st century, Gruyakin had been a holding of the Kzin Patriarchy.
In 2270, Starfleet records listed no settlements in the system. In actuality, the Federation Science League sent Federation Archeological Expedition 462 to Gruyakin VI, but its facilities weren't permanent enough for it to be designated as an outpost. The expedition uncovered the stasis box, and Spock, Nyota Uhura, and Hikaru Sulu visited Gruyakin to take possession of it. (TAS - Log Ten novelization: The Slaver Weapon)
