Guanethidine was a type of anti-anxiety drug available to the Federation in the 24th century.

History and specifics[]

Guanethidine was used to treat high blood pressure.

In 2371, reserpine was selected over guanethidine to treat damaged bioneural gel packs aboard USS Voyager in an attempt to stop systems failures, because it had a gentler effect. (VOY novel: Violations)

Developed in the late 1950s, guanethidine is a real-world treatment for hypertension.
