In the year 2016, the ship was attacked and destroyed by Klingons at H'atoria.
The Confederacy subsequently adopted the policy to fire on any Klingon ship on sight.
On 11 May 2256, the Vulcan native Commander Michael Burnham advised her commanding officer Captain Philippa Georgiou of the H'Atoria's destruction and the "Vulcan Hello" practice of her people. (DSC episode: "The Vulcan Hello")
