Hana Flowers was a human female in Starfleet in the 23rd century.

Biography[]

A lieutenant as of 2246, Flowers came on board as primary communications officer of the USS Aldrin on her first deep space assignment. Lieutenant Commander Christopher Pike had also recently came on board the Aldrin as temporary first officer during a period of increased tension between the United Federation of Planets and the Vestians, Flowers and Pike became friends, and the friendship appeared ready to develop further.

Pike soon became concerned that Captain Kamnach was acting in a reckless manner. Pike discussed the matter with several other senior officers. Flowers was very conflicted about the matter. While she wouldn't interfere with Pike's plans, she did not want to directly support Pike if he felt it it necessary to take action against Kamnach.

When Kamnach launched an unprovoked attack against a Vestian cruiser, Flowers was seriously injured when the Vestians returned fire. Pike soon learned that the rebellion in the Vestios system which had caused the increased tension had been put down, and the Aldrin was ordered to return home.

Flowers felt guilty about her refusal to directly support Pike as he had been correct all along about Kamnach. While Pike was willing to continue the relationship, Flowers was unable to let go of the guilt she felt and elected not to do so. (TOS novel: Burning Dreams)
