Harlan Ellison.
Harlan Ellison (27 May 1934 – 27 June 2018) was a Human man, a science fiction writer who lived during the 20th and 21st centuries, known for his prolific writing and his outspoken personality.
In 1953, Benny Russell thought to himself that Roy Ritterhouse's drawings looked like something that "had crawled out of that kid Ellison's mind." (DS9 novelization: Far Beyond the Stars)

Background
Ellison wrote the TOS episode: "The City on the Edge of Forever", although he was displeased at how Gene Roddenberry and others on the TOS season 1 writing staff ended up editing it. Over the years, the feud between Ellison and the TOS writing staff continued, although Ellison won acclaim and awards for the content of his original version, and was able to publish it, both as a script and a later comic adaptation. Harlan Ellison's The City on the Edge of Forever was notably the first ever Star Trek episode to be adapted in comic form.
Trooper, a veteran of World War I, was modeled after Ellison, in TOS comic: "Harlan Ellison's The City on the Edge of Forever, Issue 5".
