Seal of the President
Haroun al-Rashid was a Human politician of the mid-22nd century. He was born in the early 22nd century, and was one of the first people to serve the office of Federation President after the United Federation of Planets was founded in 2161. During his term in office, he had a number of historically significant debates with Councillor Avaranthi sh'Rothress of Andor dealing with the proper qualifications and procedures for potential Members seeking to join the Federation.

- The succession box follows one particular conjectural timeline for early Federation presidents, whereby al-Rashid is the second president, serving two terms following the single term of the first president. Because of the contradictions between the Picard Family Album's depiction of the presidential election process and A Time for War, A Time for Peace and between the Album's asertion that the Federation Charter was signed on 11 October 2161 and Last Full Measure 's asertion that it was signed on 12 August 2161, Thomas Vanderbilt is now assumed to be the first president in a continuity separate from that of al-Rashid and the main novelverse presidents.
