Harry S. Truman seen (on television) as the time steam reset itself

Harry S. Truman (May 8, 1884December 26, 1972) was a human who lived during during the 19th and 20th centuries on Earth. Truman served as President of the United States from 1945 to 1953, first assuming office when his predecessor Franklin D. Roosevelt died in office, and later winning election to a full term as President.

In July 1947, Truman kept in close communication with United States Army Air Corps personnel after a Ferengi spaceship crash-landed in the desert near Roswell, New Mexico. He ordered General Rex Denning to find out all that he could from its occupants Quark, Rom and Nog. Denning had little respect for Truman, referring to him contemptuously as "that little piano-playing Democrat." However, he claimed that the President was not "as dumb as he looked." (DS9 episode: "Little Green Men")

In September of that year, Truman signed the National Security Act into law. This act created the National Military Establishment and made the United States Air Force a separate branch of the United States Armed Forces. He also ordered the creation of Majestic 12, a secret organisation whose mandate was to collect evidence of extraterrestial activity on Earth and develop strategies to combat potential alien invaders, at approximately the same time. (TOS novel: From History's Shadow)

Shortly afterwards, he established the related organisation Project Sign, an initiative to study UFO encounters and learn more information about extraterrestrials. (TOS - Strange New Worlds III short story: "The Aliens Are Coming!", TOS novel: From History's Shadow)

In 2154, Captain Jonathan Archer and Daniels saw an image of a family watching Truman giving a speech on television in the time stream as the timeline reset itself. (ENT episode: "Storm Front")
