The Heart of God was the Archernarian's name for the massive power generator that provided energy to their world-ship Archernar IV.

History and specifics[]

It drew its energy from a sub-quantum warp field and produced quadraphasic radiation. It was able to power the vessel's life support for millions of years and was strong enough to propel the planet-sized world-ship at warp speed.

The facility was considered holy to the Archernarians. For thousands of years, High One scientists resided in the site and studied it, and by the 2260s finally began to uncover some of its secrets. (TOS - Mission's End comic: "Issue 1")

The Heart of God also supplied energy to the world-ship's Omega-weapon, providing destructive energy millions of times stronger than a photon torpedo and, when fired, left a black hole in its wake. (TOS - Mission's End comic: "Issue 2")

In 2270, the Archernarian's High Administrator hosted the Federation treaty signing in the Heart of God facility. During the ceremony, Crawlers rebeled, stealing an "Eye of God" hexagonal panel from the world-ship's power generator. The world-ship would self destruct unless the panel was recovered quickly. (TOS - Mission's End comic: "Issue 4")

After putting aside their differences, Archernarians and Crawlers restored the power generator. The Heart of God then jumped the world-ship out of phase with the prime reality and brought it into another dimension. It left a violent wake when it departed, one that destroyed a fleet of Orion interceptors. (TOS - Mission's End comic: "Issue 5")
