Heart of the Storm was a starship allegedly owned and operated by a pirate named Black Ire in the mid 23rd century. The ship was built from an old DY-500 hull, with a 2240s era Mark II shuttlecraft serving as its warp pod. The ship was in actuality owned by Dr. Leonard McCoy, who claimed to have spent his retirement savings to obtain the ship and create the Black Ire persona, all in an effort to return to Talin IV in the months following the disaster on that world. Heart of the Storm was destroyed by the Orion pirate Krulmadden during negotiations with Black Ire. (TOS novel: Prime Directive)
