In the Kelvin timeline, Hegemon of the Gornar Hegemony was the title held by the head of state and head of government of the Gornar Hegemony. (TOS - The Spectrum War comic: "Issue 2")
History[]
In the 23rd century, the title was hereditary, passed from father to eldest son. The residence was a monumental stone building reminiscent of Earth's Maya temples. The throne room was dominated by tall halls, stabilised by columns and crossbeams. A tall window made of glass let light from one of the three Tau Lacertae suns shine into a hall decorated with larger-than-life stone-made status of Gorn warriors or past hegemons.
The hegemon's guard was clad in golden ceremonial armor, including a spiked helmet, and armed with a sharp spear.
An elderly Gorn held the title in the early 2260s decade. He wore dark brown, sleeveless robes with light brown patterning on the shoulders. The robes were fastened with a belt buckled with a golden circle. Golden gauntlets clasped either wrist. In the right, the hegemon held a wooden sceptre or walking stick, topped with a carving that resembled a beast's head, with a red gem marking the eye.
This hegemon's partner was mother of his son Glocon, and Glocon's younger brood-mates. Glocon coveted the throne.
Spectrum War[]
By the year 2262, Glocon had resented his father for holding on to the title for 1.000 cycles. His friend Garron reminded Glocon he actually wished for the death of his father. Glocon was keen on feeding his family, whom he considered debauched sycophants, to the hikliss in the royal kennels.
Soon after, an extradimensional energy ring, representing rage on the emotional spectrum, traveled from an orphaned planet to Gornar and slipped onto Glocon's claw, telling him, Glocon of Gornar. You are chosen. Glocon was infused with the ring's power and his outfit transformed into red armor, emblazoned with the sigil of the Red Lantern Corps. (TOS - The Spectrum War comic: "Issue 2")
Newly empowered, Glocon fought and killed the hegemon's guards, and easily overpowered his father. When the current Gorn leader begged his son, Glocon mercilessly snapped his father's head. As the new hegemon, Glocon declared destiny smiled on him and that soon the entire Milky Way Galaxy would kneel before him.
The new hegemon was not as powerful as Atrocitus, leader of the Red Lantern Corps, who had followed the ring's signature and confronted Glocon. Garron intervened before Atrocitus could kill Glocon, and introduced himself as the humble advisor of the new hegemon. Glocon and Atrocitus entered a partnership.
At the border between the Alpha and Delta Quadrants, Atrocitus evaluated Glocon destroying the Federation Constitution-class flagship USS Constellation. Glocon intended it to be a declaration of war against the Federation. (TOS - The Spectrum War comic: "Issue 3")
His first official act defined by violence, the new hegemon was accompanied by Atrocitus to Starbase Stavitskaya in the Gamma 400 system. While they attacked the Federation starbase, General Chang, self-declared Emperor of the Klingon Empire and his Sinestro Corps associate Sinestro arrived with a fleet of Klingon bird-of-prey ships. The Klingon forces were powered by fear-based energy rings. Their battle was soon joined by Hal Jordan's ring-bearers and the Constitution-class USS Enterprise. (TOS - The Spectrum War comic: "Issue 4")
Similarly, the Spectrum War Battle of Starbase 12 was complicated by the arrival of Decius, new Praetor of the Romulan Star Empire, his master Larfleeze, and their fleet of Romulan bird-of-prey ships. Unlike the fear-powered Klingon forces, these were powered by avarice and glowed orange.
Sinestro grabbed Glocon, Chang and Decius with light constructs to force them under his control but was himself beaten back by Jordan's ring-bearers. With the arrival of Green Lantern Corps reinforcements, Sinestro was captured. Jordan's ring-bearers and the Enterprise departed the battle to battle Nekron at a resurrected Vulcan, leaving the hegemon and other leaders behind at Starbase 12-Savitskaya. (TOS - The Spectrum War comic: "Issue 5")
When Commander Spock on Vulcan began manifesting the Life Entity by controlling the emotional spectrum within him, the leaders' rings left their chosen ones and spirited light-years away to Spock. Left unprotected in space, Glocon quickly succumbed to the vacuum.
Starfleet found the remains of the dead ring-bearers. With the leadership of three empires suddenly replaced in coup d'états and then killed hours or days later, the Federation had to remain vigilant in the politically destabilised galaxy. (TOS - The Spectrum War comic: "Issue 6")
