On Earth, the European Hegemony formed early in the 22nd century. It inspired the Neo-Transcendentalism movement to leave Earth and seek independence from the first stirrings of a world government. (TNG episode: "Up The Long Ladder")
The Gorn Hegemony was a major polity in local space, and oversaw the worlds controlled by the Gorn in the 23rd and 24th centuries. (ST reference: Star Charts)
In the 2390s decade, the Gorn Hegemony was conquered by, and incorporated into, the Klingon Empire. Due to its power, it become a non-voting member, adding to the process of diversying the Klingon-dominated empire. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many)
