"Hell Is Only a Word, Part 1" ("Defiant, Issue 12") is a Star Trek comic, the twelfth issue of the Star Trek: Defiant series from IDW Publishing, released on 28 February 2024.
Description[]
- Eager to move past the unofficial bounty-hunting mission assigned to them by Starfleet, disgraced former ambassador and Starfleet legend, Worf, and his rogue crew make way for Starbase 99, a run-down remnant of the Dominion War, to complete their fugitive drop-off. The clandestine assignment has left them disillusioned with Starfleet and with one another, but a surprise awaits the Defiant crew, threatening to tear the crew apart even further — literally.
Summary[]
Log entries[]
- Captain's log.
- Alone. Completely alone. Abandoned by Starfleet. This so-called "crew" of the Defiant, nearly ready to mutiny following our last covert mission. They do not trust me. And frankly, I do not blame them. For I have done very little to earn their trust for some time.
- But honestly... I do not trust them, either. For they each have their own agenda. Whether it be avoiding prison... avoiding home... avoiding the growing irrelevance that so often accompanies advanced age and a legacy long ago secured... or just avoiding everything entirely. Not long ago, we were heroes. Rogues, but heroes. We ended the Day of Blood. Stopped a genocidal fascist from overthrowing the Klingon homeworld and the galaxy at large. What followed was a circus. What my former commander Will Riker would call a goose chase. More than anything... it was an embarrassment...
