Hellund was a 23rd century Human woman. She served in Starfleet aboard the Federation starship USS Farragut as a science officer under the command of Captain Stephen Garrovick in the mid 2250s.

In 2255, after an urgent distress signal was received from Dimorus, Hellund briefed Garrovick, Lieutenant James T. Kirk, Ensign Gary Mitchell, and Doctor Ayers about the native Dimorans. (TOS comic: "Gary")
- Hellund wore one stripe, which could indicate a rank of ensign, lieutenant, or lieutenant commander.
