Helmut Albrecht was a 23rd century Human man who served as chief engineer of the USS Fife under Captain Jason Culver.

Biography

Albrecht was a mechanical engineer, an expert on astronautics and an authority on warp drive technology. He had intensive study and experience with administration, computer operations, and electronics. He was also qualified in environmental suit operations, shuttlecraft piloting, and transporter operations. Tall and physically fit, he was a keen marksman. He was trained in sword combat, his left cheek showing an old dueling scar. He was described as highly skilled, gentlemanly, and detail-oriented, but could be fussy. He pursued photography as a hobby.

His first assignment was working on the USS Enterprise refit at the San Francisco Fleet Yards under Montgomery Scott in the early 2270s decade. Afterward, he taught astronautics at Starfleet Academy for four years. Near the turn of the 2280s, he accepted a posting at Utopia Planitia to supervise construction of the USS Fife. He became so enamored with the Chandley-class vessel that he turned down two prestigious starbase assignments. When she launched, he joined her crew as second officer and chief engineer.
