Herald antiproton beam array

A 25th century Herald antiproton beam array.

Quas class firing

An Iconian Empire Quas-class cruiser firing its Herald antiproton beam array.

The Herald antiproton beam array was a 25th century Iconian directed energy weapons emitter, an antiproton beam array type in use by the Heralds of the Iconian Empire aboard their starships in the 2410s decade. Unlike baseline antiproton beam arrays, Herald antiproton beam arrays had the chance to to cause additional damage beyond their baseline. (STO - The Iconian War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

History and specifics[]

An antiproton beam array fired antiproton energy at a target, dealing an average amount of damage. This beam array had a 250° firing arc. Compared to other energy weapon types, baseline antiproton space weapons had a 20% chance of hitting a target with critical severity, thus increasing the damage caused by a critical hit. Herald antiproton beam arrays usually ultraviolet-like blue beams with a black aura. (STO - The Iconian War missions: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", "The Hunt is On", "Explore the Flotilla")

When the Iconian War began in June 2410, the Khitomer Alliance and Iconian Resistance forces encountered the Herald soldiers and their ships, serving the Iconian survivors and their resurgent Iconian Empire. The Herald antiproton beam arrays were standard weapons aboard Herald starship types such as the Quas-class cruiser and the Baltim-class raider. During the war, Herald ships used these arms in conjunction with their weaponized Iconian gateway technology to decimate Alliance fleets and installations, such as Starbase 234, across the Milky Way Galaxy. (STO - The Iconian War mission: "Blood of Ancients")

During the war, the Alliance acquired and deployed Herald weapons and ships. Herald antiproton beam arrays were standard weapons aboard the Mir-class fighters operating from Alliance-controlled tier 6 Quas-class flight-deck carriers. Other Herald ship types operated by the Alliance included Baltim-class heavy raiders and Vonph-class dreadnought carriers. (STO website: The Iconian War: Herald Lock Box)

Alternate timeline[]

Alternate Baltim firing

An Iconian Alliance Baltim-class raider.

In a parallel universe where the Control Borg battled the Federation since the mid-23rd century, Herald ships of the Iconian Alliance were equipped with Herald antiproton beam arrays to combat the Control Borg in when first encountered by the Khitomer Alliance and the Aetherian Concordium in 2411. Their Herald antiproton beam arrays fired black-and-gold beams. (STO - Kings & Queens mission: "Situation Under Control")

However, the Solanae-based Iconian Alliance Vovin-class Obelisk carrier was equipped with baseline antiproton beam arrays. (STO website: Unparalleled: The Vovin Obelisk Carrier!)
