Hermes was a Being, a member of the omnipotent race which visited Earth millennia ago and served as the basis for Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and Norse mythology.
Background[]
Hermes was the messenger of the gods. (TOS - Section 31 novel: Cloak)
He had two starship classes named in his honor, as well as several starships, including the USS Hermes commanded by Nyota Uhura.
History[]
In the year 2267, Carolyn Palamas asked Apollo where his fellow gods were, and she cited Hera, Hermes and Artemis. (TOS novelization: Who Mourns for Adonais?)
Later in 2267, Hermes was seen with Zeus, Pan and other Beings through a dimensional gateway to Mount Olympus. (TOS comic: "What Fools These Mortals Be..")
In 2268, a message was received from someone sounding like John or Tom Hermes. Spock considered Hermes’ mythological background and hypothesized that the name might be part of a coded message. (TOS - Section 31 novel: Cloak)
In 2376, Hermes was with Anubis, Tyr, Thoth, and Artemis, the Beings who attacked the USS Excalibur. He was contained within an energy vortex by Zeus, along with the other Beings. (NF novel: Gods Above)
