Hesperides I

Hesperides I was a planet located somewhere in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, the first planet in orbit of the Hesperides star system.

History and specifics[]

Hesperides I was at one time inhabited, but by the late 23rd century the natives were all dead and their civilization in ruins. Captain James T. Kirk speculated that they were wiped out by war.

In the year 2269, Starfleet assigned the USS Enterprise to collect archaeological samples from Hesperides I. However, one of the artifacts was a device which allowed people to hear each other's thoughts, resulting in fights breaking out among the crew for no apparent reason. Nyota Uhura deduced the nature of the phenomenon, and after the cause was discovered, the artifacts were returned to Hesperides I. (TOS - Year Five comics: "Issue 5", "Issue 6")
