Hiemdal is a star that, along with a companion star named Maat, is part of a binary star system in Federation space, located only a few parsecs from Earth, near the Alpha and Beta Quadrant border.

The Federation starship USS Hiemdal was named for this location. (ST reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)
