For other uses, see Holland.

Hollandaise sauce was a type of sauce, usually served as a topping with delicacy food of the planet Earth, such as steak or vegetables (often, asparagus), and was also a key ingredient in eggs Benedict. Hollandaise sauce originated from the European nation-state of Holland, existing since at least the 15th century. Hollandaise was made from boiled water, sautéed butter, wine, red chili pepper powder, chopped wild onion, lemon juice and egg yolks. (ST reference: Star Trek Cookbook)

Hollandaise is a term used by French language chefs to describe anything of Dutch background.

History and specifics[]

At Starbase Vanguard, Café Romano's Chef Matt Romano made excellent Hollandaise sauce for eggs Benedict, a favorite of Tim Pennington in the 2260s decade. (VAN novel: Reap the Whirlwind)

In 2268, Mike Ilucci felt sick one evening, unsure whether it was due to the morning's breakfast of chipotle hollandaise sauce over Tabasco-marinated skirt steak or the rich linguine carbonara he had for lunch. (VAN novel: Storming Heaven)

Tom Paris would often request Hollandaise sauce to flavor his dishes. (ST reference: Star Trek Cookbook)
