The Home Fleet was a Cardassian military formation. The name of the fleet reflects the fact that it was deployed near Cardassia Prime.
In 2371, Dukat suggested to Gul-tar Keve that the Home Fleet leave Cardassia to engage an alien vessel in the Darane system. Keve shot down Dukat's suggestion, telling him the Home Fleet was required in case anti-military elements among the population began an insurrection on Cardassia. Keve would later offer Dukat command of the Home Fleet to engage the alien vessel in the event the Cardassian Third Fleet should fail to destroy it. (DS9 novel: Objective: Bajor)
