Home Free

Home Free.

The Home Free (Unregistered Vessel 47658) was a 24th century Federation starship, a civilian Spirit-class[1] owned and operated by ex-Starfleet officer B'Elanna Torres in the late 2370s and early 2380s decades. (VOY novel: Full Circle)

Service history and specifications[]

B'Elanna Torres left Starfleet and planned to fake her and her daughter Miral Paris' death to escape Klingon sects. In the year 2379 Torres acquired Unregistered Vessel 47658 and named it the Home Free. Relying on her experience as former chief engineer of USS Voyager and with the experimental quantum slipstream drive, she installed a QSD aboard the Home Free. Torres was also the first person to develop a functional benamite recrystallization matrix. (VOY novel: Full Circle)

The holographic nanny Kula was programmed to help raise Miral. (VOY novel: Unworthy)

In July 2380, the destruction of Unregistered Vessel 47658 was reported. Only Torres' husband Tom Paris was in on the plan. The supposed deaths left friends and family devastated. (VOY novel: Full Circle)

When Miral became sick, the Home Free travelled to the New Talax asteroid colony, home of the Federation Ambassador to the Delta Quadrant Neelix. The Talaxian doctors were unable to heal Miral.

USS Voyager and the Indign cube.

Lieutenant Commander Paris continued to serve as first officer aboard Voyager. As part of Project Full Circle, Voyager joined an exploratory fleet of ships that used QSD to travel into former Borg territory in the Delta Quadrant. Torres and Paris had arranged to rendezvous there. In the Indign system, the Home Free came under attack from an automated Indign cube. The Full Circle fleet arrived in time to rescue the Home Free, and the faked-death ruse was revealed among the senior staff. The Doctor healed Miral. The reunited Torres family were assigned quarters aboard Voyager, and B'Elanna transferred Kula off the Home Free. (VOY novel: Unworthy)

The Home Free remained with the fleet. (VOY novel: Kinder des Sturms)
