In the 23rd century, a film archivist working on a Federation outpost was an enthusiast of this sort of entertainment. Captured by Klingons, he was placed in a thought enhancer device. This caused a number of thought projections of horror movie characters to plague the Klingons' target, the Starfleet starship USS Enterprise.
