The House of Mo'Kai, also spelled Mókai or Mo'qay, was a Klingon Great House. (DSC episode: "Battle at the Binary Stars")
History[]
L'Rell's mother was born to the House of Mo'Kai while her father was of the House of T'Kuvma. She considered herself to be part of both houses. (DSC episode: "The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry")
In 2256, the house was represented on the Klingon High Council by Ujilli. Six months after the Battle of the Binary Stars, L'Rell then chose Voq to be the first volunteer for Mo'Kai's species reassignment protocol. (DSC episodes: "Battle at the Binary Stars", "The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry", "The War Without, the War Within")
After taking over the USS Voyager in 2374, the Hirogen put the Voyager crew into battle simulations on the ship's holodeck. Kathryn Janeway was disguised as a Klingon who claimed to be from the House of Mo'Kai as she unsuccessfully faced down Karr. (VOY episode: "The Killing Game")
In 2389, the House of Mo'Kai was dissolved after all of its members were seemingly killed by the House of B'vat. Its last leader was Aakan, killed by B'vat. (ST video game: Star Trek Online) However, some members of the House remained alive in hiding. (STO video game: Age of Discovery)
At one point, a champion of House Mo'Kai used a transporter to remove the bat'leth of his opponent during the Bat'leth Tournament on Forcas III. Transport inhibitors were installed in the aftermatch. In 2409, a bar patron related this incident to Alexander Rozhenko who led a Klingon Defense Force investigation team. (STO - Warzone mission: "Bringing Down the House")
In 2409, the House of Mo'Kai re-emerged again when J'Ula, matriarch of he House, was temporally displaced from 2256. She managed to discover and ally herself with the surviving members of the House, such as Adet'pa, who found refuge on Nimbus III. (STO video game: Age of Discovery)
Following the revelation of J'mpok's use of a Mo'Kai weapon on Khitomer II, the Klingon Empire dissolved and allies abandoned both J'mpok and J'Ula. The matriarch was devastated by seeing her brother T'Kuvma's dream of the Great Houses united shattered, and traveled to Boreth to find clarity. Adet'pa continued the House's affairs. (STO - House Shattered mission: "Partisans")
