Following the death of his father, [[T'Kuvma]] vowed to restore honor to his house. T'Kuvma, [[J'Ula]] and his followers were able to repair his father's ship and discovered it's cloaking device. J'Ula, Khel and their people continued repairing the ship and outfitting it with improved [[technology]], like [[engine]] and [[sensor]]s. Meanwhile, T'Kuvma impressed the [[monk]]s of Boreth. A letter was sent to Boreth when J'Ula agreed to marry [[D'Lor]] of [[House Mo'Kai]]. By that time, the House of Girjah was considered a lowly house. At the family dinner, D'Klor killed J'Ula's uncle and her three dim brothers. Their agreement was to remove every male hair to House Girjah. The child born of J'Ula's and D'Klor's union would thus become heir to both the House of Girjah and the House of Mo'Kai.

After a year, J'Ula had failed to provide D'Lor with an heir. When she gave birth to a boy with the "skin of chalk" (white-skinned), she had the child disposed of and told D'Lor it had been stillborn. D'Lor changed their arrangement and took over the House of Girjah from J'Ula, ending it.

Klingon Empire

The House of T'Kuvma, formerly known as House of Girjah, was one of the Great houses of the Klingon Empire in the 23rd century. However, the house did not have a seat on the Imperial High Council.

History

In the 23rd century, this family estate was known as the House of Girjah. (DSC - The Light of Kahless comic: "Issue 1")

Centuries before, the House's flagship was a large Sarcophagus-class battleship. (DSC - The Light of Kahless comic: "Issue 2")

The estate included a manor and a settlement and farmland of common people, surrounded by a low stone wall.

Around the early 22nd century, T'Kuvma's grandfather installed a invisibility shield aboard the flagship. However, the family's fortunes declined. The head of House Girjah sold land, and a new stone wall was drawn up around the manor. House Girjah no longer provided for the common people, and their village began to fall into ruin. The family's flagship was left grounded.

In the early 23rd century, when the family father passed away, T'Kuvma's uncle became head of the house. The immediate family included the father's eldest, J'Ula, and her four younger brothers.

Young J'Ula learned her family history and felt responsible for the common people House Girjah had abandoned. She provided them with livelihood by partnering with craftsmaker Khel to rebuild the Sarcophagus.

When the youngest brother, T'Kuvma, stumbled across the wreck in the forest, J'Ula advised him of her and Khel's efforts, and of her dream to use the ship to return the Klingon Empire to the path of Kahless the Unforgettable. She hoped to take the ship to Boreth and await the return of Kahless. T'Kuvma made his home on the ship and was trained in combat with Khel.

When the uncle wanted to send T'Kuvma into an apprenticeship, T'Kuvma's mention of Boreth convinced the uncle to send him to the Boreth Monastery to study instead. (DSC - The Light of Kahless comic: "Issue 1")

J'Ula, Khel and their people continued repairing the ship and outfitting it with improved technology, like engine and sensors. Meanwhile, T'Kuvma impressed the monks of Boreth. While T'Kuvma completed his training, J'Ula became disillusioned with her dream, and Khel suspected she would betray her people to secure her own fortune.

A letter was sent to Boreth when J'Ula agreed to marry D'Lor of House Mo'Kai. By that time, the House of Girjah was considered a lowly house. D'Klor planned the marriage as a step towards taking a seat on the Klingon High Council. T'Kuvma, now feeling beyond worldly concerns beyond the dictums of honor, wanted to stay at Boreth but was returned to Qo'noS at the monks' behest. J'Ula walked him to the Sarcophagus and brought her brother up to speed on Khel's progress with restoring the ship.

At the family dinner, D'Klor killed J'Ula's uncle and her three dim brothers. Their agreement was to remove every male hair to House Girjah. The child born of J'Ula's and D'Klor's union would thus become heir to both the House of Girjah and the House of Mo'Kai.

When T'Kuvma joined the party, D'Lor commanded him to bow. (DSC - The Light of Kahless comic: "Issue 2")

T'Kuvma refused. J'Ula asked to be left alone with her brother and they fought. T'Kuvma decided to leave House Girjah in J'Ula's control in exchange for his family's sarcophagi and the Sarcophagus.

T'Kuvma lived with Khel and the other commoners aboard the ship. After years of work, it was ready to launch. Their plan was to search for the mythical Beacon of Kahless and light it to unite the Klingon houses.

Meanwhile, the Sarcophagus fought injustice in Klingon society and liberated slaves and other oppressed Klingons. Over time, this won T'Kuvma the adulation of the Imperial populace. Khel named T'Kuvma leader of his own house. (DSC - The Light of Kahless comic: "Issue 3")

D'Lor and J'Ula eventually earned their seats in the High Council, representing House Mo'Kai. During a debate with the Klingon chancellor, T'Kuvma's growing political power was tabled. When Kol, son of Kol-Sha, accused D'Lor of being powerless, as matriarchs were in charge of House Mo'Kai, and thus, J'Ula. This was T'Kuvma's final visit to Qo'noS. During this time, T'Kuvma accepted L'Rell of the House of Mo'Kai and the albino Voq into his house.

Unable to find the mythical beacon, Khel build one himself. After years of work, he presented the finished beacoin to T'Kuvma. Early in 2256, the Sarcophagus returned to the Federation-Klingon border. (DSC - The Light of Kahless comic: "Issue 4")

They sabotaged a Federation communications relay at the binary stars. (DSC episode: "The Vulcan Hello")

When a Federation ship arrived to investigate, T'Kuvma ordered to light the beacon. (DSC - The Light of Kahless comic: "Issue 4")

The call was answered and each 24 of the Great Houses send one ship. Starfleet dispatched reinforcements. T'Kuvma declared himself Kahless Reborn and that the Empire would be united under him. Commander Kol assumed control of the fleet. (DSC episode: "The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry")

Voq, who had been named Torchbearer by T'Kuvma before the battle, was left in command of the Sarcophagus. L'Rell began explaining the history of T'Kuvma and his house to help Voq become a better leader. (DSC - The Light of Kahless comic: "Issue 1")
