Lloyd Zeta

The USS Enterprise and Einstein-Rosen Ouroboros approach hypergiant Lloyd Zeta in 2269.

A hypergiant was a type of star which was more massive than a supergiant.

History and specifics[]

Hypergiants can reach a diameter of 6.7 AU, 1 billion kilometers. Eta Carinae's primary was a hypergiant 90 times larger than Sol. (ST reference: The Official Guide to Our Universe)

Known hypergiants included a red hypergiant studied by the Enterprise in 2153, (ENT episode: "Cogenitor") Lloyd Zeta, which was prevented from going supernova by the USS Enterprise in 2269 (TOS - Year Five comics: "Issue 1", "Issue 2") and a blue hypergiant known to the USS Voyager-A in 2384. (PRD episode: "Imposter Syndrome")

The energy radiated by a hypergiant was required to control the dark matter anomaly in 3190. (DSC episode: "The Examples")
