A cure for common Human hyperthyroidism was found circa the year 2118. Vulcans never suffered from the disorder.

In 2268, Leonard McCoy compared the effects of a poison injected in Spock on Octavius IV to those of hyperthyroidism. (TOS novel: Legacy)
