The USS Morgan City (NCC-2704) was a Loknar-class (mark I subclass) Federation frigate starship in the 23rd century, entering Starfleet service on reference stardate 1/9107. The Morgan City was captured and renamed as a Klingon "slave" vessel, the IKSV Staav'eMara ("slave of justice").

History[]

The Morgan City was captured by Klingon Admiral Kamato on stardate 1/9409 during the Four Years War. Renamed as a Klingon "slave" vessel, the ship was later part of Kamato's fleet that fled to the Triangle after the admiral's failed coup attempt.

The vessel was active in the fleet of the Imperial Klingon States for decades after the capture, with sightings (repainted in Klingon colors) as late as stardate 2/2301. (FASA RPG module: Federation Ship Recognition Manual)

Appendices[]

Background[]

Since this is a class of ships named for Federation settlements, the creator's intention seems to be that "Morgan City" is a location in the Federation that the vessel is named for. There are a number of locations sharing this name on present-day Earth.

This vessel represents one of the few occasions that a starship was captured and used by an opposing power on an extended basis in the Star Trek universe, in this case may be the only time a Starfleet vessel was so captured. Other examples are the IKS B'rel, which was captured from Kruge by James T. Kirk and renamed Bounty, and the Klingon bird of prey that was captured by Dukat and renamed Naprem.
