The IKS 'Avwi (also alternately rendered as IKS A'vwi) was a Vor'cha-class attack cruiser in service in the late 24th century. The vessel was the Flagship of the Klingon Defense Force.

In 2370, the 'Avwi was under the command of Captain Kol. The vessel led a fleet to Deep Space 9 because the IKS K'Tang went missing in the Gamma Quadrant with evidence pointing to the Cardassians being responsible for the vessel's disappearance. The 'Avwi led the attack on the IRW Steel Bird, after learning of the Romulans part in the destruction of the K'Tang. (DS9 - Hearts and Minds comics: "For the Glory of the Empire", "Into the Abyss", "Masters of War")

The vessel was sent to the Gamma Quadrant to scout planets in Sectors G3 and G4. The vessel stopped at Shelvar VI, where some of the crewmembers got into trouble with the natives. The vessel responded to the distress call from the Gakora Colony. The vessel went to Deep Space 9 to drop off the Colony’s survivors. Commander Benjamin Sisko and Lieutenant Jadzia Dax went on the vessel to go back to the Gamma Quadrant. (DS9 comic: "Lightstorm")

The name 'Avwi was used in the first issue of Hearts and Minds, but the next mention of the ship's name in Lightstorm changed the transliteration to A'vwi. The original spelling is the most similar to a Klingonese word, as 'avwI' means "guard" (or "one who guards") according to the ST reference: The Klingon Dictionary.
