The IKS Gorkon was a Qang-class Klingon heavy cruiser starship in Imperial Defense Force service in the 24th century, named for the late chancellor, Gorkon.

Service history[]

Gorkon underwent its shakedown cruise in the year 2376, shortly after the end of the Dominion War, under the command of Captain Klag. Its first mission involved settling the attempted revolt against a Klingon governor on the planet taD. (TNG novel: Diplomatic Implausibility)

Shortly thereafter, the ship was ordered to assist the Federation Starfleet starship USS Enterprise-E to locate several missing Federation dignitaries, leading them to Narendra III where they were forced into battle against fellow Klingons under the control of the Malkus Artifacts (TNG - The Brave and the Bold, Book Two novella: The Final Artifact)

The Gorkon was then assigned, along with several other Qang-class vessels, to explore the Kavrot sector in search of new worlds to conquer and use for the enrichment of the Klingon Empire. Gorkon succeeded in bringing the world of San-Tarah into the Empire. (GKN novels: A Good Day to Die, Honor Bound)

The Gorkon saw combat soon after against the forces of a species called the Elabrej. (GKN novel: Enemy Territory)

In 2380, the Gorkon saw action against Kinshaya pirates. (TNG novel: Q & A)

The Gorkon was heavily damaged in a fight against the Borg in 2381. (ST novels: Destiny, Lost Souls)

In 2398, a joint investigation by the IKS Gorkon and USS Enterprise-E crews into the the attack on the Gorn-Klingon negotiations on Qo'noS that cost the life of Ambassador K'mtok revealed Toral, son of Duras, as the instigator of the crime. Toral escaped apprehension. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many)
