The IKS K'Tang was a Vor'cha-class Klingon attack cruiser starship in Imperial service in the 24th century. In 2370, the K'Tang was commanded by Commander Krek.

In early 2370 the K'Tang was dispatched from the Klingon Empire on a scientific exploration mission to the Gamma Quadrant. Before entering the Bajoran wormhole, the K'Tang docked at Deep Space 9 for shore leave and to receive replacement crewmembers from a visiting Klingon Bird-of-Prey. (DS9 - Hearts and Minds comic: "Prelude")

Unbeknown to the crew of the K'Tang, Maura, a Romulan agent, snuck aboard the ship while it was docked at the station and began to sabotage her sensors and tactical systems, as part of a Romulan plan to instigate a war between the Klingons and the Cardassians. (DS9 - Hearts and Minds comic: "Masters of War")

After leaving the station, the K'Tang traveled into the Gamma Quadrant and left an expedition of warriors for "shore leave" on Keltara as well as taking aboard supplies on Caldonia III. Shortly after the K'Tang entered a region known by local species as "the Abyss", where legend has it a great "silver bird" patrolled the area and no ships ever returned from the area. Shortly after entering the area the K'Tang's systems began to shut down and she was attacked by what appeared to be a Cardassian Galor-class warship. Before the ship was destroyed the K'Tang managed to send a message buoy back to the Alpha Quadrant informing the Empire of the attack. (DS9 comic: "For the Glory of the Empire")

The wreckage of the K'Tang was later found by Starfleet Lieutenants Jadzia Dax and Julian Bashir and Klingon officer Kaleth aboard the USS Orinoco. Intensive scans of the wreckage revealed that the K'Tang was destroyed by phaser-type weapons which the Cardassians don't use. It later became clear that a Romulan D'deridex-class warbird had carried out the attack on the K'Tang and that Maura's sabotage coupled with some holographic trickery and made the Klingons believed the Cardassians were responsible in order to spark a war. (DS9 comic: "Into the Abyss")

In "Into the Abyss", Dax describes the K'Tang as being a K't'inga-class warship. This is at odds with the vessel's mini-series appearance as a Vor'cha-class cruiser.
