The IKS K't'inga was a 23rd century Klingon starship, a tier 6-rated D7-class miracle worker flight deck carrier prototype in Imperial Klingon Defense Force service in the 2250s and 2410s decades. (STO - Klingon Civil War mission: "Leap of Faith")

Service history[]

23rd century[]

The proposed D7 class design presented to the Klingon High Council in 2257.

Following the Federation-Klingon War of 2256-2257 a new D7 class variant was designed. Instead of bearing the banner of any one Klingon House, the new cruisers were intended to bear the mark of the unified Klingon Empire, and become the mainstay of the fleet following the war. Chancellor L'Rell presented a holographic schematic of this D7 class version to the High Council in the year 2257. (DSC episode: "Point of Light")

L'Rell travelled aboard the IKS K't'inga to Boreth for a rendezvous with the Federation starship USS Discovery. The crews of both ships sent a landing party to the Boreth Monastery. (DSC episode: "Through the Valley of Shadows")

In 2258[4], L'Rell led the Klingons participating in the Battle near Xahea at Zero Point[5] alongside Kelpien and Starfleet forces against the Section 31 fleet, controlled by the rogue artificial intelligence Control, from aboard the K't'inga. L'Rell summoned a Na'Qjej-class cleave ship to aid the allies in the battle. The allies were victorious against Control. (DSC episode: "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2")

25th century[]

Chancellor L'Rell in 2411.

During the Klingon Civil War of 2411, L'Rell's consciousness was transferred from Gre'thor into a clone body at the Boreth Monastery by Matriarch J'Ula of House Mo'Kai and L'Rell's son Tenavik. The monastery relaunched the K't'inga, which had been kept and maintained at Boreth into the 25th century, under L'Rell's command during a battle with the Fek'Ihri Horde. The K't'inga turned the battle against the Fek'Ihri in favor of the J'Ula and her allies. Due to the destruction of J'Ula's own vessel, the Qugh-class IKS Lukara, L'Rell handed command over to J'Ula after the fight. (STO - Klingon Civil War mission: "Leap of Faith")

The K't'inga served as Matriarch J'Ula's and Chancellor L'Rell's flagship during the battle against forces loyal to the self-proclaimed Emperor of the Klingon Empire, J'mpok, in orbit of Qo'noS. (STO - Task Force Operation mission: "Remain Klingon")

The allies won the battle against J'mpok's forces in space and the emperor was killed in the Great Hall of the First City on Qo'noS, ending the civil war. L'Rell resumed the chancellorship over a reunited Klingon Empire and declared Lady J'Ula her torchbearer. The Klingons reaffirmed their partnership within the Khitomer Alliance. (STO - Klingon Civil War mission: "A Day Long Remembered")

The D7-class variant represented by the K't'inga, notable for its size, appearance and hangar bay equipped with two tactical attack fighter squadrons, returned to service in Klingon Defense Force and Khitomer Alliance service. The Alliance rated the K't'inga as a tier 6 miracle worker flight deck carrier, a counterpart to Starfleet's 2250s-era Constitution-class miracle worker flight-deck carrier, represented by the USS Enterprise replica. Like the D7, the Constitution class was fitted with advanced weapons and carried its own tactical flyer squadrons. (STO websites: Rise of Discovery, Command the Discovery Era Enterprise and D7!)

From 2411 onwards, the K't'inga represented its class on the shipyards interfaces operated by New Romulus Shipyards, Klingon Defense Force Order of Builders, Dominion Vanguard Fleet and Starfleet Shipyards Operations at Khitomer Alliance facilities across the Milky Way Galaxy. (STO - New Dawn missions: "Explore the Flotilla", "The Hunt is On", "Ceremony", "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Flag officers of the Alliance could deploy the K't'inga alongside other spacecraft for assignments across the galaxy's quadrants as part of Operation: Delta Rising's four-quadrant strategy. (STO - New Dawn mission: "Admiralty System")
