The IKS K'vinta was a D7-class Klingon battlecruiser starship in Imperial Klingon Defense Force service in the 23rd century, operational in the 2270s or 2280s and commanded by Kordon sutai-Donatil.

Service history[]

While patroling "the Triangle" sector in the Federation-Klingon Neutral Zone near the Beta Origii nebula, K'vinta was ambushed by three Vas Hatham-class Romulan bird-of-prey cruisers in a battle that severely damaged her engineering section. Commander Kordon ejected the command boom from the secondary hull. Before he could arm the warp drive's self destruct and catch the Romulans off-guard, the cruisers vaporized it, then departed the area.

The engagement killed 323, leaving 29 warriors in the remaining hull. Life support, transporters and one impulse engine remained fully operational, although subspace communication was beyond repair, the bridge was damaged, and only a few months of supplies were kept in the hull.

Shortly afterward, K'vinta encountered a massive wall, the Barrier of Essai, proceeded inside and came to orbit the class M planet Essai.

During negotiations between Kordon and King Sai-ume, the remaining technology aboard the K'vinta was available for trade, as least as far as Sai-ume believed. (FASA RPG module: The Barrier of Essai)
