The IKS Toh'Kaht (IKC-11515, also known as the IKC Toh'Kaht) was a Klingon Empire starship, a Vor'cha-class attack cruiser (or battle cruiser) in Klingon Defense Force service in the late 24th century. (ST reference: The Star Trek Encyclopedia, Decipher RPG module: Starships)

Service history and disposition[]

In the year 2369, the Toh'Kaht travelled to the Gamma Quadrant under the command of Captain Tel'Peh, first officer Hon'Tihl and medical officer Kee'Bhor. The vessel was on a two month bio-survey mission with intentions of establishing the first Klingon colony on the other side of the Bajoran wormhole. The covert secondary mission of the Toh'Kaht was to discover alien weapons technology, and return it to the Empire.

Approximately three weeks after departure from Deep Space 9, the Toh'Kaht returned through the wormhole a month ahead of schedule. Immediately after clearing the event horizon, the vessel exploded. Further investigations found that the ship had been sabotaged and was destroyed from the detonation of a thalmerite device on the ship's warp core. Hon'Tihl was the only survivor of the explosion, but died shortly after beaming to the station.

It was later discovered that the Toh'Kaht had fallen under the influence of a set of energy sphere on Saltah'na V, causing paranoia and factionism amongst its crew, a re-enactment of the events that led to the destruction of the Saltah'na race. (DS9 episode: "Dramatis Personae")

Background[]

While canon materials surrounding the use of the model use the term "attack cruiser" for the ship's type, the Decipher RPG refers to this and other Vor'cha ships as "battle cruisers", and BotF as battleships. It is not clear if the terms were synonymous or if, at some point, some Vor'cha vessels were outfitted to fill service as a different ship type. Decipher's manual assigns the name prefix "IKS", while BotF used the IKC prefix.
