The IKV Bloodsteel was a D'Gavama-class Klingon bird-of-prey, commanded by Tasin sutai-Pallara of Imperial Klingon Security. (FASA RPG module: The Strider Incident)

History and Specifications[]

This ship was fully classified as a K-22 Bird of Prey Class-V Scout, Model A. Ships of this specific make and model were in service beginning at reference stardate 2/1805. The Bloodsteel was one of eight of this specific make and model constructed. Ships of this type were capable of atmospheric landing, and warp speeds up to Warp 8 using their KWC-3 warp engines.

The 'Bloodsteel' was never referred to as a D'Gavama-class vessel in 'The Strider Incident'. However, later publications indicate this is a direct translation of "bird-of-prey" to Klingonaase, and specifications line up with other D'Gavama-class vessels.

Sometime around 2/1809, Captain Tasin took the Bloodsteel to the Stogar system, investigating and pursuing a Klingon Governor and suspected renegade, Admiral Kai zantan-Mik, to confirm he is truly acting in the best interest of the Klingon Empire. Early into his investigation, Captain Tasin uncovered that the recently-deceased Klingon Ambassador to Tasor had not been killed by Federation forces, as was widely believed. In fact, by this time, Tasin had begun to suspect that Admiral Kai had killed him, or had him killed, so that he could take his position as Ambassador, and destabilize Federation-Klingon relations. In addition to this evidence, and hunches, Tasin had further manufactured evidence to confirm Kai's guilt. Captain Tasin planned to use the Bloodsteel to confront Kai and his men as soon as he returned from Defense Outpost 1121.

While laying in wait in the asteroid belt on the outermost edge of the Stogar system, the Bloodsteel detected a wayward Federation bouy, and recorded all information they could gather off it. Knowing that a Federation ship would likely come looking for it at some point, Tasin re-activated the bouy signal, and cloaked his ship.

Before much time had passed, the USS Strider entered the system, and began scanning for the bouy. Captain Tasin let the Strider approach to within only a few thousand meters, before decloaking, raising its shields, and locking its weapons onto the Federation ship. Captain Tasin informed the Strider that any 'negotiations' were to be conducted aboard the Federation ship, and then beamed over four heavily armed Klingon warriors to secure the area, followed by Captain Tasin himself, declaring the federation crew his prisoners. nevertheless, the crew of the Strider attempted to negotiate themselves out of the situation. The crew explained their situation, the conspiracy they were trying to uncover, and when prompted, told Captain Tasin the status and location of Admiral Kai.

Back aboard the Bloodsteel, Captain Tasin was able to verify everything the crew of the Strider had told him, and informed the ship he would be escorting them back to the Federation-Klingon Neutral Zone, tailing them from a close distance, and monitoring their communications via listening devices left onboard the Strider by the boarding party. At the Neutral Zone, Tasin formally let the Strider go, and the Bloodsteel pivoted back toward the Empire, and disappeared. In reality, this was a simple ruse, and Tasin would continue following the Strider back to Outpost 1121, and Admiral Kai, staying fully cloaked to the aft of the Strider the duration of the voyage.

Once at the outpost, as the Strider began to make accusations and present evidence, but before any conclusions could be reached, the Bloodsteel decloaked next to the Strider, and demanded that the Federation forces turn Admiral Kai over to him. While at first objecting, Captain Carl Curtis of Outpost 1121 are able to come to an agreement in relatively short order. During the commotion, however, Admiral Kai, his men, and his Federation co-conspirator, Commodore Bram Harmonson, managed to make an escape aboard the Admiral's Warpshuttle.

Contacting Defense Outpost 1121, Captain Tasin declared himself the new Klingon Ambassador to Tasor, and briefed the station on the Klingon's knowledge of Kai's crimes, and his accomplices. Realizing the Federation double-agent must be the Commodore, Captain Tasin set pursue course after him, towards The Triangle Sector. (FASA RPG module: The Strider Incident)
