The IRW Alth'lndor was a 24th century Romulan vessel, a starship in Imperial Star Navy service in the 2390s decade. The Alth'lndor was under the command of General Tebok. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many)

History[]

Destruction[]

In the 2390s, General Tebok was a powerful figure in the politics of the Romulan Star Empire, and critical of Praetor Taris. In 2398, Tebok promoted General Velal to commander of the Romulan Second Fleet.

In 2399, the IRW Alth'lndor reported multiple subsystem malfunctions to Nova Roma on Rator III while Tebok was aboard. The ship's engineers suspected a computer virus Two hours later, the Alth'lndor dropped out of warp and transmitted a distress call. While the IRW Kaidor rushed to lend aid, a sudden failure in antimatter containment destroyed the Alth'lndor, with all hands lost. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many)

The virus's effects were consistent with Iconian probes first encountered by Taris and her science officer Hakeev at Iconia in 2365. The pair's collaboration with the Iconians had led to the destruction of Romulus in 2387. (TNG episode: "Contagion", STO - Romulan Mystery mission: "Taris")

Aftermath[]

The exiled politico Sela was informed about the irregularities in the Alth'lndor's destruction by her spies in Roma Nova in 2400.

General Velal met with Sela's forces in 2401, and Velal's demand for Taris to step down for investigation let to renewed inter-Romulan skirmishes. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many)
