The IRW Deranas, also known as the IRW Terix or IRW Trennis (IRC-1959), was a Romulan D'deridex-class battle cruiser (or heavy cruiser) in service to the Romulan Star Empire's Star Navy in the 24th century.

History and specifications[]

During the mid-2360s, the Deranas was commanded by Commander Tomalak. (ST reference: The Star Trek Encyclopedia, CCG set: Second Edition, Decipher RPG module: Starships)

In 2366, the Deranas violated the Romulan Neutral Zone in order to rescue the crew of the scoutship, Pi, which had crash-landed on Galorndon Core. (TNG episode: "The Enemy")

A few months later, the Deranas was one of several warbirds that remained near Nelvana III and were part of the plot to reveal Admiral Alidar Jarok as a defector. Initially the plot was successful, as it DID lure the Federation starship USS Enterprise-D to the planet and the Deranas and another warbird did ambush the Enterprise. However, Captain Jean-Luc Picard thought ahead and asked for cloaked Klingon reinforcements before the Federation starship entered orbit of the planet. Both the Klingons AND the Enterprise laid the trap and surrounded the warbirds and they withdrew, allowing the Klingons and the Enterprise to return back to Federation space. (TNG episode: "The Defector")

The Star Trek Customizable Card Game named this vessel Deranas, but the RPG book Starships called it Trennis.
