The IRW Rea was a 25th century Romulan starship, a D'deridex-class warbird battlecruiser in Romulan Star Empire and Tal Shiar service in the late 2400s decade. Its commanding officers included Kovek and Jomar. (STO - Romulan Mystery missions: "Project Nightingale", "Shadow Play")
History[]
In the year 2409, the Cirini Prime colony was independent from the Romulan Star Empire and considered joining the Romulan Republic. (STO - Romulan Mystery mission: "Shadow Play")
The Tal Shiar erected a deflector shield network in orbit of the planet and established a base on the surface, near the colonial settlement. The IRW Rea, under the command of Commander Kovek was assigned to Cirini Prime to maintain the "protective" blockade.
The Tal Shiar held the crew of the Federation science vessel USS Nobel at their facility. When Starfleet starship traveled to the planet, they were confronted by the Rea. Commander Kovek demanded their surrender. In the ensuing fight, the Rea was defeated, and the Nobel crew was recovered from the Cirini Prime Research Outpost. (STO - Romulan Mystery mission: "Project Nightingale")
In the same year, Starfleet returned the Cirini Prime citizen T'Kela, recently rescued from Tal Shiar experimentation at Gasko Station, to her homeworld. The Rea, now captained by Commander Jomar, enforced the blockade. A brief diplomatic discussion failed when Jomar became threatening, demanding to seize T'Kela and board the Starfleet ship for inspection. The ships exchanged fire near the orbital shield net, and the Rea was destroyed. T'Kela was returned to Cirini Prime. On the surface, Subcommander S'Tenn expressed his outrage to the Starfleet commanding officer for the destruction of the Rea.
Commander Tarlea and her ship arrived at Cirini Prime soon after and held evidence of the Rea's destruction. Commander Xereth of the Romulan Republic joined the confrontation with his own vessel, and Tarlea's ship was destroyed in the encounter. (STO - Romulan Mystery mission: "Shadow Play")
