Iad was an uninhabited world, a class M planet in a red giant star system, located in the Lembatta Cluster in the galaxy's Beta Quadrant. It was the ancestral homeworld of the Renao civilization. By the 24th century, its whereabouts had degraded into legend. (PRM novels: Fire with Fire, In the Heart of Chaos)

History and specifics[]

By the 2380s decade, memory and historical records placed the Renao firmly on their new homeworld, Onferin, the capital of the Home Spheres.

In November 2385, a two-starship task force consisting of the USS Prometheus and IKS Bortas visited Onferin during their investigation into Renao-led terrorist attacks on Federation and Klingon Empire holdings. The Onferin acquiesced to the investigation to avoid military retaliation by the Klingons. (PRM novel: Fire with Fire)

The Bortas was destroyed in battle over Iad, while the Prometheus resolved the mystery of Renao aggression, caused by alien radiation. (PRM novel: In the Heart of Chaos)
