Ibar the Magnificent was a mythological Garda man.

History[]

A 23rd century Garda legend foretold that Ibar would defeat a lion-like mossek without weapons, then lead the Garda civilization to freedom from their enemy.

Legacy[]

In 2266, as Netuya and Spock escaped a Stoyak prison on Bira III, a mossek approached them. Spock fought it, knocking it unconscious with his bare hands. Netuya recalled the legend and proclaimed him Ibar.

When they reached the Garda camp, Netuya handed Spock a sword and officially asked him to lead. Spock, having been altered by exposure to a Stoyak brain device, accepted the weapon and soon was advising Garda during a Stoyak aerial attack.

Later, Spock/Ibar was treated as a godlike figure as he engaged in a duel to the death with Montgomery Scott, proxy for the Stoyak. As the effects of the brain device finally wore off, both men stopped fighting, which led to both sides choosing peace over war. (TOS comic: "A World Against Itself")
