Ibarri was a red dwarf star in the Alpha Quadrant. By the 24th century, the star was nearing its end.
A large asteroid belt encircled Ibarri. In 2375, Ezri Dax activated the Protean Codex and Catalyst devices, which caused the asteroid belt to ignite. It was believed that the event would "restart" entropy once the universe ended and allow new life to flourish. (DS9 - Prophecy and Change short story: "Chiaroscuro")
