In an alternate reality where the Section 31 artificial intelligence Control merged with the Borg, the Iconian Alliance was an 25th century interstellar nation-state, an alliance overseen by the Iconians and incorporating the survivors of the galactic powers in the Milky Way Galaxy. (STO - Kings & Queens mission: "Situation Under Control")

History and specifics[]

The Iconians lost the World Heart, a power source and data repository, at some point but regained it after time had passed.

The Alliance fought the Control Borg alongside the Federation, Klingons and Romulans since the mid-23rd century. At least one engagement was the Battle of Bajor near the Bajoran wormhole.

By the 2410s decade, the Control Borg had defeated the galactic powers. Their survivors, like the Starfleet starships USS Crypteia and USS Enterprise, were accepted into the Alliance. Iconian Alliance ground forces consisted of Herald troops.

In 2411, the Solanae Dyson Sphere was the last bastion of the Iconian Alliance. The World Heart was kept in the World Heart chamber on a spire of the Dyson sphere. The Alliance was headed by Matriarch L'Miren of Iconia. Other key personnel included Defender T'Ket and Lead Engineer K'Wenn. The commanding officers of the Starfleet ships were Captains Rivera and Sela, respectively. In that year, the Control Borg advanced into the Solanae Dyson Sphere. Using an Iconian gateway, the Aetherian Concordium starship Unity and its Khitomer Alliance escort arrived from the primary universe and allied with the Iconian Alliance. Leader Grendat-Bex and their away team fought Control Borg drones. When Control Borg Queen Tasha Yar attempted to assimilate the World Heart, her daughter Sela was forced to destroy the prized Iconian artifact. Yar returned to her Control Borg Queen Octahedron. The Enterprise-F led the Iconian Alliance fleet and their newfound allies into combat against the Borg fleet. The Borg ships were destroyed and the queen killed. The Khitomer Alliance agreed to provide supplies to the Iconian Alliance to keep up the fight, which Captain Sela welcomed. (STO - Kings & Queens mission: "Situation Under Control")

Following these events, the Iconian Alliance gifted the tier 6-rated Vovin-class Obelisk carrier to the Khitomer Alliance. (STO website: Unparalleled: The Vovin Obelisk Carrier!)

Alternate timelines[]

In the primary universe, the Iconian Empire engaged in the Iconian War with the Khitomer Alliance in the year 2410, which ended when the Alliance returned the World Heart a time-travelling Sela stole during the Fall of Iconia. (STO - The Iconian War mission: "Midnight")

In another alternate reality, the Iconian-Dominion Alliance discovered a Tuterian expanse and became embroiled in a conflict with the Sphere Builders. The intense resistance of the IDA let to an assault in subspace and, ultimately, universal disruption. The Sphere Builders filed the event away as Experiment #3331. (STO - Yesterday's War mission: "Terminal Expanse")
