The Iconian Gateway Network in .

The Iconian Gateway Network in 2410.

The Iconian Gateway Network was the 25th century Dyson Joint Command designation for the galaxy-spanning network of Iconian gateways constructed by the Solanae 200.000 years before the 2410s decade. (STO Collection Issue 07: "USS Pathfinder")

History and specifics[]

Ancient times[]

The Solanae were a servitor race of the Iconian Empire. Around the time of the fall of Ancient Iconia, the Solanae were tasked with constructing space stations for the Iconians. This included the Solanae Dyson Sphere in the galaxy's Delta Quadrant. (STO - Solanae Dyson Sphere mission: "Unexpected Friend")

An industrial accident leaving with the Dyson sphere's Delta Solanae star left traces of tetryons and forced the Iconian Empire to abandon this location. (STO - Solanae Dyson Sphere mission: "Unsafe Practices")

At some point, the Iconian Gateway Network went dormant and remained partially hidden in subspace. (STO - Solanae Dyson Sphere mission: "Sphere of Influence")

25th century[]

In the year 2409, the Romulan Republic and their allies of the Klingon Empire and United Federation of Planets discovered a personnel gateway underneath the surface of New Romulus. (STO - New Romulus mission: "Secrets of the Ancients")

Following its activation, New Romulus suffered from tremors. An unplanned away team led by Ambassador Worf stranded at Storage Facility Z98 and inadvertently reactivated the Iconian Gateway Network across the Milky Way Galaxy. Aboard the Solanae vessel Obelisk 1, Worf's team returned to the Tau Dewa sector block through the newly emerged, ship-sized gateway in the Jouret star system. The gate was claimed by the Romulan Republic following the defeat of an attacking Elachi fleet by the Republic and their allies. (STO - Solanae Dyson Sphere mission: "Sphere of Influence")

This gateway was identified as the class IV gateway Jouret System Starship Gateway. (STO Collection Issue 07: "USS Pathfinder")

The new gateway led to the Solanae Dyson Sphere, which fell under Republic aegis and was administered by Dyson Joint Command with the help of the Federation and Klingon allies. A class IV gateway, the counterpart to the Jouret system gate, was located in the Allied Zone of the Dyson sphere. Control over the sphere was contested between the Allies and the Voth. (STO - Solanae Dyson Sphere mission: "Circles within Circles")

A class IV gateway was located close to the surface of Delta Solanae. When it was activated by Undine undercover agent Eric Cooper in December 2409, it connected to the Jenolan Dyson Sphere. The Jenolan sphere had jumped into the Delta Quadrant. Jurisdiction over the sphere was disputed between the Romulan Republic, Federation and Klingon Empire. Admiral Tuvok began mediating between the factions. (STO - Solanae Dyson Sphere mission: "A Step Between Stars")

The Undine attacked the Beta Quadrant powers in January 2410 during the Jenolan Conference, the Allies repelled the invaders and saved Earth Spacedock and Qo'noS. This led to the Jenolan Accords, which formalized the pact into the Khitomer Alliance. (STO - Solanae Dyson Sphere mission: "Fluidic Destruction")

The control over the gateways connecting to the Delta Quadrant led to a permanent presence of the Khitomer Alliance in that quadrant. (STO - The Delta Quadrant mission: "Escalation")

The four-quadrant strategy (4QS) was the Alliance's plan implemented to explore the class IV gateways and the space beyond them through survey squadrons. (STO Collection Issue 07: "USS Pathfinder")

A gateway connected a wrecked planet in the Hobus system with the Andromeda Galaxy, specifically the Andromeda Dyson Sphere. (STO - Iconian War mission: "Uneasy Allies")

Following a raid by the Ferengi on the Iconian flagship, the Khitomer Alliance gained access to a class IV gateway in the Umbral sector of the Gamma Quadrant. (STO - Gamma Quadrant mission: "Quark's Lucky Seven")

Alternate timelines[]

In an a parallel universe where the Iconians and Borg underwent fusion thousands of years ago, the Aetherian gateway network was the Aetherian counterpart of the IGN from the primary universe in the 25th century. This network consisted of an array of interlinked gateways placed across a vast number of alternate dimensions. (STO - Kings & Queens mission: "Axiom")

With the assistance of the Khitomer Alliance, the Aetherian Concordium tuned the prime universe Jouret System Starship Gateway into a transdimensional portal in 2411. STO - Kings & Queens mission: "Situation Under Control")
