Idran sector

The Idran sector was a sector of space in the Gamma Quadrant which contained the Gamma Quadrant terminus of the Bajoran wormhole and the Idran system. (DS9 episode & novelization: Emissary) In 2410, it became one of twenty sectors that the Dominion granted the Alpha Quadrant Alliance access to, in order to jointly fend off the Hur'q Invasion. (STO - Engineered for War mission: "Turn the Tide", STO - Gamma Quadrant mission: "Storm Clouds Gather")

Naming[]

The sector's name was derived from the Idran system, which was located within its borders. (STO - Gamma Quadrant mission: "Storm Clouds Gather")

Location[]

In the block of twenty sectors accessible to the Alliance, the Idran and Rakhari sectors were those closest to the Bajoran wormhole. Both marked the "western" end of accessible space. The Idran sector shared borders with the Baen (north), Stakoron (east) and Rakhari sectors (south).

It was home to several Dominion member species that the Ferengi Alliance, Federation and their neighbors established contact with early. (STO - Gamma Quadrant mission: "Storm Clouds Gather")

The Idran sector was situated circa 70.000 light-years from Sol. (DS9 episode & novelization: Emissary)

History[]

About fifty millennia prior to the 24th century the Eav'oq species hid themselves in subspace where they remained until 2376 when Jake Sisko, Opaka Sulan and their companions activated a mechanism which brought the Eav'oq back into normal space. At the same time their home system, the Idran system, relocated three light years to its location fifty millennium prior at the Gamma Quadrant terminus of the Bajoran wormhole. In 2410, the Hur'q returned from their hibernation and began a campaign of ravaging the Dominion and its subject worlds. In desperation, Ambassador Odo turned to the Alpha Quadrant Alliance, granting them access to twenty sectors of the Gamma Quadrant in a bid to fight back the Hur'q Invasion together. (STO - Engineered for War mission: "Turn the Tide", STO - Gamma Quadrant mission: "Storm Clouds Gather")

The Hur'q targeted this sector for invasion and faced joint opposition by the Dominion and AQA. (STO - Gamma Quadrant missions: "Break the Circle", "Hur'q Planetary Assault", "Sinister Gathering")
