Ilik Na was an Iskonian man, a founding leader of a humanoid colony on the planet Iskonia prior to the 22nd century.

Biography[]

Several centuries ago, Ilik Na and a group of emigrants landed on Iskonia in a colony ship. He was highly knowledgeable in computer programming. After decades leading the settlers, he became fearful of leaving them in death, so he encapsulated his essence into an artificial intelligence program to serve as a guardian watchdog system.

Over time, the AI lost direction and became the Omnimind, a controlling force that sought to improve, then perfect, humanoid lifeforms through cybernetics. It sparked a war in the 22nd century that by the 2170s led to a victory of machines over organics.

In the year 2274, Strike Force rebels aided by a landing party from the Federation starship USS Enterprise managed to defeat the Omnimind. Captain James T. Kirk was able to speak to the original baseline AI, a hologram of Ilik Na, who said the Omnimind never found the secret of life, but he now had a respect for it expressed through the continuity provided by offspring after death. The hologram then overrode and shut down the Omnimind's robots, giving the surviving colonial descendants their freedom. (TOS comic: "Restructuring Is Futile")
