Ilsa Soong was a 23rd century Human woman. She was a doctor who served aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2260s under the command of Captain James T. Kirk.

History[]

In 2267, when the Enterprise first encountered the 21st century Earth colony ship Stephen Hawking, Soong and Leonard McCoy performed their crew's initial medical recovery in the transporter room and in sickbay. She also provided Kirk with an assessment of their condition and recommended that he talk to them about their options in groups of 20, so that they'd be more willing to voice personal opinions.

Soong and McCoy later took time off to work out together in the ship's gymnasium. After Hawking's personnel had spent two days acclimating on Merope IV, Soong and McCoy were first responders treating injured following an assault on the Meropean bio-mass, which had been encroaching dangerously upon the planet's capital city. When the Enterprise fired phaser banks to disintegrate the bio-mass, the mass sent a neural feedback pulse through the phasers. For Soong in sickbay, the feedback brought on a seizure. (TOS novel: Across the Universe)

In 2270, when the Enterprise returned Garth of Izar to Antos IV, Soong and Antosian healer Wenallai treated dozens of severely injured Antosians, including first minister Empynes, some of whom could not be saved. Soong had hoped to learn something about the Antosian's talent for cellular metamorphosis that could be applied to Federation medicine. (TOS novel: Garth of Izar)
