Background[]

  • An earlier draft of the story appeared in the fanzine "T-Negative" #23 in 1974.
  • Apparently the extra-dimensional scientist was not able to return the bodies of the crewmen killed by a tentacle monster. Twelve people beamed down, but James T. Kirk only beamed up ten.
