Iota Geminorum is a star with an associated star system located in the galaxy's Beta Quadrant, visible from Earth in the Gemini constellation, in or near Federation space and the Klingon Empire's borders.

History and specifics

It is a large G class yellow star with magnitude -1 located in the general vicinity of Outpost Delta 1, as well as Sigma Geminorum, Boreth and the Alawanir Nebula. (ST reference: Star Charts)

Iota Geminorum's orbit was the location of a number of worlds, including fourth planet Iota Geminorum IV, a.k.a. Tribble Prime, the homeworld of tribbles.

In 2259 of the Kelvin timeline, the USS Enterprise detected a Klingon bird-of-prey in the system, then disarmed a series of bombs on the fourth planet. (TOS - The Truth About Tribbles comics: "Part 1", "Part 2")

In 2267 in the prime reality, Argelian exobiologist Yersa began traveling to the system, visiting several times. (TOS - Strange New Worlds I short story: "The Last Tribble")

In 2268, the IKS Gr'oth entered the system and used quantum bombs to cause the extinction of tribbles. (TOS - New Visions comic: "The Great Tribble Hunt")
