The Middle East in 1992.

Iraq is a region in the Middle East on Earth. Located between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, Iraq was the origin of much of early Human civilization, and was the location of the ancient city of Baghdad.

History and specifics[]

Iraq possessed a long and tumultuous history. In the Middle Ages, it was the center of the Islamic Empire, one of the most advanced civilizations on the planet, and in the early 21st century, it was the site of the controversial Iraq War. In the year 1996, United States President Bill Clinton authorized air raids on Iraq against Augment strongholds during the Eugenics Wars. (ST - The Eugenics Wars novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 2)

In the 2000s decade, the immortal Flint was working with a museum in Iraq when he met Lieutenant Christopher Brynner, then an American soldier. (Speculations - Strange New Worlds 9 short story: "The Immortality Blues")

During the Iraq War in 2003, a United States Army Apache helicopter was shot down in the Iraq desert, killing pilot Kevin Howard. (TOS - Constellations short story: "Make-Believe")
